July 13, 2016: “ACT for NIH thanks the House Appropriations Committee and Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY) for approving a $1.25 billion funding increase for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in FY 2017.
“Last year, Congress provided an historic $2 billion increase for NIH – the largest increase for NIH since 2003. By recommending a $1.25 billion increase for Fiscal Year 2017, the House Appropriations Committee has demonstrated its commitment to restore and sustain our nation’s investment in life-saving biomedical research.
“ACT for NIH also thanks Committee Ranking Member Nita Lowey (D-NY) for expressing her support for NIH funding.
“A month ago, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved a $2 billion increase for NIH in FY 2017, matching last year’s increase. ACT for NIH urges Congress to provide at least that amount in the final FY 2017 Labor-HHS appropriations bill.”
