ACT for NIH seeks Advocacy Director
ACT for NIH is a Washington, DC-based non-profit dedicated to increasing Federal biomedical research funding to help save lives – since there are too many patients to be patient. Our small team advocates for increased funding of the National Institutes of Health and educates Congress and the public to make increasing biomedical research funding a national priority. We also operate our sister organization, the ACT for NIH Foundation.
We seek an Advocacy Director who is a skilled advocate with Hill and advocacy expertise and is knowledgeable about NIH to work closely with the ACT for NIH President to design and implement our advocacy strategy. The Advocacy Director will have a portfolio of advocacy initiatives which they will develop and lead, and which focus on meeting directly with Members and their staff. The Advocacy Director will also work with the biomedical research community, representing ACT for NIH and helping build broad support for increased NIH funding. This position also manages the organization’s communications strategy. This appointment offers a competitive annual salary range of $150,000-$200,000.
Successful candidates will share a passion for our cause, show initiative and creativity, operate independently, exhibit a strong attention to detail, demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, and have a record of five to eight years of significant relevant accomplishments. ACT for NIH is a lean and fast-paced organization, so we are looking for candidates skilled in working quickly and effectively, and who are fast learners interested in picking up additional responsibilities over time.

We seek an Advocacy & Operations Manager to assist with advocacy and communications, run our events, and help the team keep day-to-day activities on-track. The Manager also manages campaign outreach and leads finance and operations. This key position helps the ACT for NIH team maximize its effectiveness. This appointment offers a competitive salary range of $85,000-$105,000.
Successful candidates will share a passion for our cause, show initiative and creativity, have the ability to operate independently and discreetly, exhibit strong attention to detail, demonstrate excellent writing skills, and have at least two years of relevant experience.
