Founder, Hope Knows No Boundaries

Retta Beery is the founder of Hope Knows No Boundaries, a non‐profit that works to educate and connect the dots between patients, medical specialists, and insurance companies.  She speaks at conferences around the world, including NIH’s “Celebration of Science,” Cold Spring Harbor Labs Genome Conference, and the Milken Global Conference.  Retta’s passion is to advance personalized medicine because of her experience with undiagnosed illness in her twins, Noah and Alexis, and the treatment they found through whole genome sequencing pioneered by NIH.  Her family’s story has been featured on NPR, The New York Times, NOVA, the Today Show, and many other media outlets.

“My children would not be alive today were it not for the work of researchers funded by NIH.  Born with a life-threatening illness that was only properly diagnosed and treated after whole genome sequencing — funded by NIH — they are now happy, healthy, alive, and off to college.  My family is here because of NIH, and we will do everything we can to encourage Congress to make medical research a priority."
